About the Caribbean islands

small map of area

Carriacou

Carriacou which means the land of many reefs, belongs to Grenada which is just a 20 minute flight away to the South. It is not uncommon to see a pelican sitting on a buoy, with a seagull sitting on the pelican's head, both appearing content in the afternoon sun! Somehow this symbolizes the relaxed easy-going nature of the island that is totally unspoilt by tourism and is the place to go for those seeking peace and tranquillity.

Green fields

It is one of the few islands where you will see green fields (during and immediately after the rainy season) and delightful unspoilt
beaches and bays which are perfect for snorkelling, diving or just relaxing and soaking up the sun. The islanders make their living from farming, fishing and seafaring and are amongst the friendliest in the Caribbean.

Once described as an island with 100 rum shops and only one gasoline station (Frances Kay, Carriacou),
it has but a few hotels and restaurants and we are fortunate in being able to let some of the very few private properties that are available for holidays.
